[The darkness that's befallen the Barge has been a bit of a problem for Snow. It feels claustrophobic and takes her back to places she'd rather not. She's been keeping busy to keep her mind off it, trying to help with keeping inmates comfortable - relatively speaking at any rate - in Zero.

She just needs a few moments to herself for some prayer, however, and does retreat to her cabin just for a little while. She almost thinks to turn on her communicator so that others may hear and join if they wished, but it may offend and upset more than it might help so she opts to keep her prayers to herself.

When she's finished, however:]

I know that these times are difficult and it may not bring much comfort that will last for very long, but... [She thinks a moment.] Please, if you can. Try to take a moment to catch your breath and help yourself stay calm. All of you. We cannot help each other if we are not also caring for ourselves.

If anyone needs anything, please, don't hesitate to ask. I will do everything that I can until this situation is handled.

[She ends the feed there and heads off back to Zero. Feel free to run into her there or while she's en route! c:]

[The Piemaker was not a person very much for prayer. Once upon a time as a boy he had prayed desperately for a few very important things and had, unfortunately, gone unanswered, and ever since found that wishing for something to happen - or not to happen - was only wishful thinking.

Nineteen years later we join the Piemaker on his way down to Zero, holding a boxed pie and in very real danger of meeting the girl called Snow at the door]

It's the neighborly thing to do, isn't it? People in need of comfort, you bring comfort food. Stands to reason.

[No, they do not. And Snow can speak from very personal experience on that. But she doesn't. Some things are best kept to yourself.

She smiles politely and gives a small shake of her head.]

No thank you. Did you bake all of them yourself?

I did. Is that...I don't know, lame? A waste of time? It's sort of my one talent - my only talent - and if I don't bake my skills get sort of stagnant. It's much like sword-fighting. Only with rolling pins and flour and no one's trying to kill you.

Much more preferable to sword-fighting, now that I think of it.

[She laughs a little.]

It's an admirable skill. I'm afraid I wouldn't be much good at it myself.

If you can accurately measure out ingredients and keep them in order, that's most of the work done right there.

I wish there was some sort of master secret to it, but speaking as a professional piemaker, that's...no, that's most of it.

[To the Piemaker's credit, his eyes only widen slightly in reaction. He doesn't like to gape, doesn't like to make others feel outcasted or strange, and thus swallows his immediate reaction in place of something more polite, and shakes Snow's hand]
