♕ 002 voice/spam;

[The darkness that's befallen the Barge has been a bit of a problem for Snow. It feels claustrophobic and takes her back to places she'd rather not. She's been keeping busy to keep her mind off it, trying to help with keeping inmates comfortable - relatively speaking at any rate - in Zero.

She just needs a few moments to herself for some prayer, however, and does retreat to her cabin just for a little while. She almost thinks to turn on her communicator so that others may hear and join if they wished, but it may offend and upset more than it might help so she opts to keep her prayers to herself.

When she's finished, however:]

I know that these times are difficult and it may not bring much comfort that will last for very long, but... [She thinks a moment.] Please, if you can. Try to take a moment to catch your breath and help yourself stay calm. All of you. We cannot help each other if we are not also caring for ourselves.

If anyone needs anything, please, don't hesitate to ask. I will do everything that I can until this situation is handled.

[She ends the feed there and heads off back to Zero. Feel free to run into her there or while she's en route! c:]

A little's better than nothing. A little can go a long way.

You're...really optimistic. Not that I find anything wrong with optimism. It's refreshing.

And...unexpected, on the Barge.

From an inmate's perspective I can't imagine there would be much to be optimistic about. Someone tears you away from your home, you're usually dead, everything is terrible...it's not a comfort.

They can. But most don't.

You can't choose the way someone views a situation and the more pressing, terrible things tend to rise to the surface like bits of scum and it's not easy to strain the scum out. You can point a person in a direction of a better future and say "Look, there it is, go get it", but it's the lead a horse to water idiom and people who won't or can't look past what's hurting them need someone else to help them see for themselves.

I try to be. Usually.

Some days are harder than others. Like today. The whole...locking people up against their will...thing.

When I was nine years old, I prayed and prayed for God to bring my parents back. Which was infinitely easier to do for my father who left, over my mother who died.

There wasn't ever an answer.

[The Piemaker, owing to his gift and his hesitancy of intimate connection with other people, froze at the touch to his arm but didn't pull away. He would much, much rather be uncomfortable than rude.]

I'm sorry..too.

It shouldn't be a thing that happens but death is as inevitable as change and life.
