That was my first experience with what most of you consider to be modern. I...I had fun while I was there, but it was admittedly a little difficult at times when those men with cameras would appear. What are they called? Papa-something.

[Cameras were actually pretty rad until that happened. Now she's unsure how she feels about them. Rude, rude paparazzi.]

I was just wondering though, is it normal for something like that to happen?

My mother did wish for me and pass away when I was young girl and stepmother murdered my father and placed a curse upon me, but much of the similarities end there.

What about the huntsman? [ If they're comparing notes she's going to be nosy ]

It's true the queen sent a huntsman after me once I escaped my cell. I fled into the forest to escape, but those woods are cursed. He's one of the few people who know how to navigate them safely.

I did not beg him to spare my life and he did not take pity on me. I had to convince him that the queen would kill him regardless of whether he returned with me or not and the queen's brother proved my words to be true. I promised him gold if he guided me through the woods, but in the end he did not do it for payment. He fought alongside me for the good of the kingdom.

His name is Eric.

How did you know you could trust him? He could have taken you anywhere, or back.

He had nowhere else to go and no one to return to. If he went back, Ravenna would have executed him.

Then he kind of had no choice. At least he made a better one, anyway.

He still had a choice. He could have just as easily abandoned me and gone ahead. But he chose to stay regardless of gold or not.

I don't call that a choice.

What would you call it then, if not a choice?

The right thing to do.

If there were no choice involved in doing the right thing, I do not believe we would be here.

Maybe it's not the same for everyone.

Inmates are here because they have made poor choices that have landed them where they are. Most of them had the choice to do the right thing, but not doing the right thing was either an easier or faster means to their ends.

So long as there is an or involved - and there always is - there's always a choice. Even if it's deciding not to do anything at all, you've made a decision to sit by and let others act instead or let events unfold as they will.

By saying there is no choice involved is belittling each and every single one of the inmates here. In other words, all their progress is for nothing and meaningless because they're not actually doing anything. But they are because part of their recovery is getting them to understand that they have a choice. They've always had the ability to choose.
